Principal's Message
I am so excited to begin another year with all of you!
My first year at Houston was definitely a year of learning and such a rewarding time nonetheless. I got to build great relationships with students, families, the community and staff, so I’m very excited to continue the learning and relationship building this year.
Some great accomplishments that I’d like to share is that Houston has shown great improvement on the California State Testing (CAASPP).
Additionally, our teachers have been relentlessly intentional on creating and displaying Learning Intentions for students to know exactly what they are learning at all times, as well as why it is important to learn. They have also displayed detailed schedules in their classrooms to account for all instructional minutes so that all time is dedicated to student learning.
Our entire staff has worked so hard to ensure that students have what they need to be successful learners, thrive in a safe learning environment, and engage with others effectively through Social Emotional Learning. Our teachers, aides, cafeteria workers, office staff, custodian, and Positive PAWS Behavior team are all working cohesively to make your child’s learning experiences as meaningful and engaging as possible.
I can’t forget to acknowledge all of the family and community support that we get from all of you. You are what help us to be successful in our work in creating strong futures for all of our students. I am blessed to have such a strong community alongside with me to help develop our Cubs into strong, smart, and successful Bears!
